I’m a huge fan of using interactive notebooks in speech therapy! They’re perfect for teaching, reinforcing, and reviewing language skills. Notebooks create a portfolio of sorts and a reference tool for students. Let’s take a look at some of the skills covered in the February Edition! This can be found in The Speech is Sweet Club!
Most of the activities found inside are for year-round usage, but there are some Valentine’s Day items included too! Let’s peek inside:
Grammar
The February packet addresses a ton of different grammar skills including collective nouns, pronouns, adjectives, irregular plurals and subject-verb agreement!
There are speech petals that address regular and irregular plurals!
This month focuses on when to use is/are!
WH Questions
Every month of this series features a different type of interactive notebook activity that tackles WH Questions! In the February packet, there are a variety of accordions!
Each WH question comes with two accordions! Students just lift up the accordions and write the answers underneath.
Vocabulary
Categories
This month students sort vehicles and toys & instruments and school supplies! Each month features a category sort. First students look at all the items and cut them out. Then they glue the items under the correct flap. Sorting activities are so helpful!
Context Clues
This is a great activity to practice using context clues. Under each flap, they’ll write the definition of each unknown word.
Compare/Contrast
There are a variety of interactive Venn diagrams included!
Synonyms
These love-letter pocket is full of heart jigsaw puzzles! Each puzzle has two synonyms! While students match the pieces together they can come up with sentences with the words to demonstrate how they mean the same thing!
Miscellaneous
There are also a variety of activities for describing and sequencing! There are three different sequencing activities – how to make a valentine, how to brush your teeth, and how to make a hamburger!
