Laura Numeroff is one of my favorite children’s book authors! I even did a presentation about her in my Children’s Literature Class in college! I adore all of her books and I think they’re great to use in speech-language therapy!

It’s a tale as old as time. A little boy gives a mouse a cookie and then the mouse asks for a glass of milk! haha! Who knew that adventure starts with just a cookie. There are so many ways to use this book in therapy:
- Cause & Effect
- Social Skills – friendships
- Object Functions – The mouses uses many items – nail clippers, mop, broom, scotch tape, etc
This is perhaps my favorite Numeroff book! It’s about a little dog who grew up in a family of police officers and is also expected to be a police officer. He doesn’t want to disappoint his family, but he also has a dream of owning a hat shop! It’s seriously the cutest and one of the most underrated books! You can use this book to target:
- Who Questions – Talk about how wears each hat (firefighter, police officer, etc)
- Describing
- Problem/Solution
10 Step Guide to Living with Your Monster
