Rainbow season is almost here! I just love spring in the speech room. Rainbows, butterflies, and flowers are just a few of my favorite things!
It’s no secret around here – I don’t have a crafty bone in my body! haha.. When I blog about crafts, you know it’s going to be something easy and low prep. In fact, I’ve even made two NO PREP craft bundles – Articulation Crafts and Speech Therapy Crafts (covers language, fluency, articulation, and apraxia).
I wanted to stop in today to share how you can use the words from my no prep craft bundles to make some super cute low prep crafts!
These rainbows are SO easy to make!
Materials needed:
– paper plates
– glue
– scissors
– word pieces
If you have my NO PREP craft bundles mentioned above then you already have TONS of circular word pieces at your finger tips!
If you own my Spring Articulation Bundle or Spring Apraxia: Snip and Stick packet then you have some square word pieces that you can use too!
Directions:
1. Fold a paper plate in half
2. Cut on the folded line to make two rainbow pieces
3. Students color their words and then cut them out
4. Students glue the words onto the paper plate by following the arch
I love using paper plates for this, because they’re sturdy and well… I can’t make a perfect half-circle on my own. haha
*Also, if you prefer to use circle punches you can print the pages at a custom scale of 85% and then you can use a 1 inch circle punch*
Also, if you want bigger rainbows then you would cut the paper plate closer to the bottom like this:
You can also substitute the word pieces with bingo dauber markers or construction paper scraps!
This is the perfect craft for mixed groups! Everyone can make the same craft, but practice different skills! For instance, your fluency students can practice light contacts or easy starts and then glue those words onto their rainbow (or use bingo daubers)!
