Why Use Speech Therapy Crafts?
Kids love to color, cut, and glue. I don’t make the rules! Speech therapy crafts are such a great way to keep little hands busy and minds engaged! My number one tip for classroom management is to always have something for your students to do. There is nothing that will keep a child occupied like an easy craft! Young children can have short attention spans, so when they have an activity to focus on while they’re waiting for their turn to practice one-on-one with their speech therapist, they’re more likely to stay on-task. We want our students to have fun and not get bored! They’re a great use of therapy time!
Speech therapy crafts are also a great way to integrate fine motor skills into your sessions! This makes these hands-on crafts ideal for co-treatment sessions with an occupational therapist!
Students and parents love the finished product! They create an adorable memento from speech-language therapy and they’re great for home practice! Since the crafts are covered in word targets, they’re great for doubling as homework! You can instruct your students that their homework is to show-off their simple craft to family members and practice the targets!

Free Speech Therapy Crafts Overview
These free samples address three different speech and language goals. There is a page for /k/ words, it includes articulation targets for initial, medial, and final positions. There is also a page full of CVC words, which are ideal for your students with apraxia or students who are working on final consonant deletion. The third page feature language targets for plurals. I want to give you a little taste of the variety of goals covered in the bundle!
The bundle covers all speech sounds, even though this sample only addresses the k sound. Let’s explore the hands-on activities inside!
Wel-Gum to Speech Therapy Craft
First up, you’ll receive a Gum Ball Machine Craft! This is a fun activity for year around or it could be great for the back to school season! You can decorate your door or create a fun “Wel-Gum to Speech” bulletin board! These crafts are super easy and low prep, you only need to print them out and add scissors, crayons, and glue! No need to gather construction paper, paper plates, cotton balls, glitter, confetti, foam pieces, or the entire craft aisle haha! Although, I love those items too!
I think this is the perfect school speech therapy craft, because it’s a great way to kick off a new school year and wel-gum your speech and language groups! Also the back to school season is so hectic, you truly need a no prep activity to get back into the groove!
Stick with Speech Craft
So, I’ve totally hopped on the cactus fad (are they still in style? haha) with this one. This creates such a precious finished product! This would also look so cute with a “Stick with Speech” bulletin board or displayed on your door! These simple crafts are so great to use for door decor and hallways!
I think cacti are great for any time of year (I made sure all three crafts can be used year around), but they’re also ideal summer or spring speech therapy craft.
Smart Cookie Speech Therapy Craft
This is another fun craft! Of course, I had to make a “sweet” craft. haha 🙂
How adorable would a “Smart Cookies in Speech” bulletin board be?! These activities are truly provide easy ways to decorate speech therapy rooms. When students see their word on display, they will feel so much pride! It’s so cool to see what students can create with some crayons and a glue stick!
