Winter is coming…. to the speech room! haha! Shout out to all of my Game of Thrones fans!
I absolutely adore using seasonal themes! They’re so much fun and super relevant. This year I have been obsessed with articulation vocabulary books (you may recall from my last post)! They’re such a simple and fun way to integrate reading and vocabulary into your speech sessions. Here’s a peek into the winter version!
Each mini book features 8-12 pages. Each page features the carrier phrase “I see a….” with a winter themed item! These are perfect for early readers! If you have a group of non-readers, you can simply echo read the books together (you read the sentence and then your student repeats after you).
These are totally no prep! You just print out the pages and then your students do the rest! They’re great for keeping students engaged between repetitive drills. Students will be busy coloring and cutting out their pages while they wait to work one-on-one with you. You can even encourage students to read solo between repetitive drills for even more practice! These are also great for students who are in RTI or for students who are only seen for short bursts of time.
Do you work with any mixed groups? Your language students can work on categories, describing, and comparing/contrasting with these books too! For instance, with the /p/ book students can compare polar bears and penguins or parkas and caps!
Another thing that I love about these books is that they double as homework! Once students construct their books in therapy then they can take them home to read for additional practice!
The winter theme packet can also be found in the Seasonal Bundle! If you like these winter books, then you’ll love the spring, summer, and fall versions too!
I also have a Thematic Bundle with five fun themes (home, animals, food, school, and transportation)!
Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful day!
